Parliament logjam to end, governnment to discuss black money

Black Money
New Delhi, Nov 24: The logjam over the black money issue may end today on the third day of the winter session of Parliament.

The government might give in to the opposition's demand for an adjournment motion over the black money issue and LK Advani, BJP leader is expected to move this motion.

The UPA government was under pressure to disclose the names of at least 800 tax evaders and the Finance Ministry officials were also grilled by the Parliamentary Panel on the black money issue. The deadline to take any action on tax evaders was also set to 15-days.

Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee was asked to disclose the name of the evaders by the MPs in addition to disclosing the opinion given by the Attorney General of India.

But Pranab objected by claiming that the Attorney General advised against making any such revelations.

Sources reveal that the Finance Minister told the MPs who invoked privilege if details were not shared, that sharing the names of the evaders could end India's chances of getting any further lists from banks.
