No danger to Taj Mahal: Selja tells Parliament

Culture Minister Kumari Selja said the media reports about the monument built by Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan did not have any "scientific basis".
Scientific studies conducted by Archaeological Survey of India, Survey of India and Central building Research Institute have concluded that Taj Mahal, including its four minarets, is "quite stable" in plan as well as elevation, Selja told Lok Sabha in a written reply.
She was responding to a question on media reports, especially in foreign newspapers, that Taj Mahal was in danger.
The Minister said conservation work at Taj Mahal is an ongoing process and those things are attended to continuously depending upon the need of repairs and availability of resources.
"The monument is regularly monitored by conducting essential studies," she said.
