Thane: Teenager student held for girlfriend's suicide

Thane, Nov 15: A teenager B Pharm student was Tuesday arrested for allegedly driving his girlfriend, a minor student, to commit suicide, police said.

Suraj Kumar Pal Mistry (19), a resident of Ambewadi here, was in love with the 17-year-old victim. He had promised to marry her, but in the recent past Mistry had been avoiding the girl, said Assistant Police Inspector G S Shaikh. Following this, the girl was depressed and hanged herself in her house yesterday afternoon, the police said. Based on a complaint filed by the victim's sister, Mistry was arrested under IPC Section 306 (abetment of suicide).
