Oops moment for CNN-IBN with Sri Sri video, Sagarika in fuss

Sagarika Ghosh and Sri Sri Ravishankar
New Delhi, Nov 11: Popular TV news channel, CNN-IBN, especially its deputy editor and journalist, Sagarika Ghosh faced enormous criticism over airing an old video footage of Sri Sri Ravishankar in her talk show - Face the Nation.

While airing the show on the topic - "Sri Sri on 4 day yatra in UP: should spiritual leaders take part in anti-corruption campaigns? FTN 10pm," it was shown that Sri Sri was participating in the debate with other four panel members including Sagarika. [Watch the video]

However, the controversy surfaced as Sri Sri was not present there at the time of the LIVE show. It was an old recorded video footage which was edited before broadcasting the "Face the Nation" on Wednesday, Nov 9.

The channel along with Sagarika is facing stern criticism and was also "abused" by the viewers. However, the channel on Friday, Nov 11 tried to clarify the air with an apology to its readers.

Meanwhile, Sagarika Ghosh, from her personal Twitter account, tweeted, "...it was wrong to use a recorded intvu in a live debate. We are sorry, we regret it deeply and intend to do a rethink."

The deputy editor of the channel also criticised abusive comments against her while tweeting, "Abuse towards women in public eye is truly vicious. Age, class, anatomy, marital status nothing spared. Wonder if men get same treatment."
