'Sick' Sonia kept aside, Rahul Gandhi to rule Cong in Weeks
It was earlier reported that 41-year-old Rahul will soon become the Congress President but there was no official confirmation. Now it seems that one of the most youngest bachelor of the country is all set to continue their family tradition as he would be the sixth member from Nehru-Gandhi family who will run the country's oldest political party - Congress.
According to sources, Sonia Gandhi, who has been suffering from some undisclosed illness, would provide broad directions to the party and government.
Rahul, as a young face, could fulfill the dream of the people as he has already proved his strong leading ability in several cases, especially in land and employment cases. Rahul is expected to give an aggressive push to the Congress' welfare agenda.
However, it would be interesting to see how the young leader would lead Congress which has been facing strong opposition from all opposition parties over corruption charges (2G spectrum scam, CWG 2010 irregularities and so many).
Extending the UPA government's jittery, one of the allies of the ruling government, Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee has also threatened to quit the alliance over the recent petrol price hike in the country.
