In a veiled snub to tainted former Karnataka CM BS Yeddyurappa, the Bangalore leg of the yatra was expected to be the most difficult for Advani in terms of the various scams that had erupted in the state govt here. Advani, however minced no words in slamming the corrupt politicos and made it clear that he will not support corruption irrespective of who was involved in it.
In spite of the fact that Yeddyurappa was instrumental in bringing the first BJP government in South India, Advani's sppech was able to set matters straight and had little mercy for the scam-tained BJP rule in the state.
Focussing on the corruption in the UPA government, he said, "I've often said the cash-for-votes scam is bigger than 2G. It has never happened in the history of the world that such dishonesty is so blatantly exhibited to the world. There was not a single person in the Congress who was not involved in it."
The fact that was highlighted ahead of his yatra arriving in Bangalore was that he was sharing the dias with other scam-tainted mininsters in the state govt. Hard core Yeddyurappa supporters like Shoba Karandlaje, Basavaraj Bommai, Murugesh Nirani and V Somanna were absent and chose to skip the high profile function.
Cracking the whip on the corruption in the BJP governemtn in the state, Advani commented, "Good governance cannot co-exist with corruption. This is not just about the Congress but also about us. If we want to fight corruption, we cannot make a compromise with those among us who're corrupt either."
