Telangana Protest
Hyderabad, Oct 29: The Congress Core Committee, the highest policy making body said that centre needs more time to take a final decision on Telangana statehood issue. The core committee has discussed the issue on Oct 28 and decided to buy some more time by way of consultations among UPA parties on the issue. The whole process of discussion may stretch for another two months probably up to Jan 2012.

The high-profile meeting held at the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh"s residence was attended by all the members of Core Committee including the party president, Sonia Gandhi and the Andhra Pradesh Congress affairs in-charge general secretary and Union Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad. This was the sixteenth time the Congress Core Committee was meeting to discuss the contentious Telangana statehood issue.

Meanwhile, there is no official statement about the meeting but sources said that the Congress Central leadership needs more time for consultations among the UPA partners and also with recognised political parties both at the national and state level to arrive at a consensus on the issue.
