New Delhi, Oct 29: In what can be called a big snub, it has emerged that India's Sports Minister Ajay Maken has been conveniently ignored in the gala opening ceremony of the maiden Formula One Grand Prix in India at the Buddh International Circuit in Greter Noida. He was not invited for the ceremony.

The fact was revealed in a tweet made by Maken himself, when he said, "When F1 is flagged off; as Sports Min I am laying foundation stone for 5cr synthetic track at P.T.Usha's academy in Koyilandi near Calicut (Kerala)."

The first Grand Prix of India is the most expected marking of the country's presence in the high profile Formula One racing calendar. The practice session has already begun from Friday with the final races scheduled to be held on Sunday at 1500 IST.
