Twist in Bhanwari Devi case, Police on duty beaten up

New Delhi, Sept 28: The Bhanwari Devi case of Rajasthan took a you-turn on Wednesday, Sept 28 after the Kaparda villagers assaulted the police team, who came for investigation. The team had gone to track down Baldev, an accused in the case.

Bhanwari Devi, a Rajasthani Dalit nurse had gone missing since Sept 3 after a video clip exposed her in a compromising position with Cabinet minister Maderna. Though Bhanwari's husband Amarchand alleged that Cabinet Minister Mahipal Maderna has abducted and murdered his wife, his allegations have not yet been proved.

Directing the police to expedite the probe, the court also observed that the lack of objectivity in the investigations would be questionable. Following the court's order, Maderna was booked by the cops.
