Paramakudi firing: Justice Sampath Commission begins enquiry
Clashes had erupted between the police and the agitators when a group of Tamizhaga Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam cadres blocked the road and demanded the release of their leader John Pandian on Sept 11.
Justice Sampath assisted by the revenue officials inspected the place where the government and private vehicles were burnt and the place where stone pelting and firing took place. Later on, he visited the memorial of Dalit leader Immanuel Sekaran and met the representatives of Dalit forums. He also visited the family members of the deceased Dalits and consoled them.
The kins said that most of the victims had gone to Paramkudi on that unfortunate for some or the other reasons. The commission also enquired about the family members of the killed people.
Meanwhile, the residents of Pacheray near Mandalamanickam, where a Dalit boy was killed by a gang, staged a demonstration against the Commission of Enquiry citing that they don't have confidence in the commissions enquiry.
