Telangana: No train, bus, no power; blackout in paralysed AP

Protest for Telangana
Hyderabad, Sept 24: Two-day rail-blockade around the entire state has begun in Andhra Pradesh on Saturday, Sept 24. More than 72 express and 264 passenger trains (coming to Telangana or passing through the region) have been cancelled by the South Central Railways (SCR).

"In view of some incidents that took place during similar protests earlier, we are not operating train services this time," informed the chief of SCR.

Citing the possible threat over two-day rail-blockade, several trains connecting Hyderabad with other major cities in the country - Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Kolkata, Chennai have been cancelled or diverted or re-scheduled.

Meanwhile, sources reported that 500,000 auto-rickshaws in Telangana and more than 60,000 three-wheelers in Hyderabad joined the protest. Over 10,000 RTC buses remained off the roads in the state capital and in other cities following the agitation for Telangana.

Enhancing the jittery, which was cast on Andhra following a state-wide strike-protest demanding a separate state - Telangana, power cut in Hyderabad and other adjoining cities caused complete blackout in the region.
