Car Park
Bangalore, Sept 20: The Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) is likely to impose tax over misuse of public property. The city residents may have to pay money for parking their cars outside the home - on the road or pavement.

According to Palika sources, a tax or penalty of Rs 50 per month will be impose on the owners for parking their four-wheelers outside their home margin. Palika said that this is an attempt to remove jams by checking unauthorized parking.

"Parking outside the homes - on the roads or pavements - is a serious encroachment, and it has to be regulated. However, no decision has been taken yet on enforcing the proposed rule. This is a policy decision and has to be discussed in the Council," said BBMP commissioner Siddaiah.

BBMP also said that they have estimated around 5000 cars in each wards of the palika. Further the BBMP would conduct a survey to chalk out parking location, registration number and name of the owner of each vehicle from each ward of the palika. The agency which carries the survey itself will be given the responsibility to collect the tax, but the palika did not mention how the collected money will be used.
