Eid celebrated across Tamil Nadu

Chennai, Aug 31: Eid-ul-Fitr is being celebrated with religious fervour and solemnity today (Aug 31) by Muslims across the state.

Scores of Muslims gathered at major mosques in the city to offer namaz and greet each other on the holy day of Eid.

Special namaz were organised across the state in mosques including Big Mosque (Triplicane) and Thousand Lights Mosque in Chennai, the Nagore dargah and the mosque in Goripalayam in Madurai.

Tamil Nadu Governor-Designate K Rosiah, outgoing Governor Surjit Singh Barnala, Chief Minister Jayalalithaa and Opposition leader Vijaykanth had greeted the people on the occasion.
