Rupee down by 2 paise against USD in early trade

Money
Mumbai, Aug 26: The Indian rupee fell by 2 paise to Rs 46.06 per US dollar in opening trade on the Interbank Foreign Exchange today, supported by month-end dollar demand from oil importers and a lower opening in the stock market.

Forex dealers said in addition to month-end demand for the American currency from importers, a lower opening in the stock market put pressure on the rupee.

Yesterday, the rupee had closed below the Rs 46 per US dollar-mark for the first time in 11 months, losing 5 paise to Rs 46.04/05 amid sustained demand for the US currency from importers.

Meanwhile, the Bombay Stock Exchange Sensex was down by 23.69 points, or 0.15 per cent, at 16,122.64 in opening trade today.
