'Justice for Madani' campaign on in Kerala
The claim was made by Director General of Prosecutions, Jacob Punnoose who stated that the 'Justice for Madani Forum' was mobilizing funds in Madani's name in various parts of the state. Following the receipt of the information, all district police chiefs have been directed to take adequate legal steps to curb the disturbing trend.
Punnoose added that strict action including register of cases against those found guilty of violating the provisions of religious institution (Prevention of Misuse Act 1988) will be carried out.
The DGP was responding in court following a writ petition filed by T G Mohandas, who claimed that the forum was clearly violating the provisions of the act. Madani is presently housed in the Parappana Agrahara jail after being named an accused in the Bangalore serial blasts case that saw the death of two persons and injured 20 others. The blasts occurred in Jun 2008.
