Varun Gandhi joins Anna's bandwagon at Ramlila Maidan

New Delhi, Aug 24: Varun Gandhi, BJP MP, Pilibhit reached Ramlila Maidan on Wednesday, Aug 24 (today) to support Anna Hazare in his agitation against corruption.

Varun also met Anna's supporters and sat on the ground like a commoner.

“I am here to support Anna in his campaign against the corruption," said Varun Gandhi.

The young Gandhi's visit has again stirred controversy that Anna could be close to the right wing. Varun's previous statement after he showered praises on Chief Minister, Gujarat, Narendra Modi had also drew adverse criticism from activists across the country following which he was forced to withdraw his statement.

"Our time starts now. I stand for the spirit of the legislation as an Indian. I hope this way I would be able to make a small contribution towards the legislative process," said Varun.

"We need to put a system in place. We must think why millions of young people have joined the protest against corruption," he said.

Earlier, Varun had proposed to present the Jan Lokpal bill in the Lok Sabha as private members bill.

Meanwhile, Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut also visited Anna carrying the party Chief, Bal Thackeray's message to the Gandhian Crusader to end his fast.
