Govt bends? Hazare allowed to fast for 7 days in JP Park?

New Delhi, Aug 17: In what seems to be a shift in government stand, reports are emerging that the government may allow Anna Hazare to fast for 7 days at the Jai Prakash Narain Park. Though no official communication have been given out yet, sources have confirmed the news.

With hectic parleys on between Team Anna and government officials, it has been reported that the govt has given two options as venues for the fast- one is JP Park and the other being Ram Lila Grounds. There are also reports that Sec 144 could also be lifted from the JP Park area. The restrictions on crowds and vehicles will also be lifted.

The govt is seriously mulling offering Ram Lila grounds as a tangible alternative venue taking into consideration the sheer size and secure environment.

Meanwhile, a massive crowd has assembled outside the Tihar Jail premises awaiting the release of Anna Hazare and Arvind Kejriwal. Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, Art of Living founder and Baba Ramdev have also gathered there in a show of support. With Swami Agnivesh and Kiran Bedi meeting Hazare a while back, Agnivesh commented that Anna has expressed his willingness to come out of jail and will proceed to JP Park.

The govt has finally blinked to the mass uproar that Anna Hazare's arrest had caused among the public. In a visible softening of stand, the move can be seen as last ditch effort by the govt to save its face.
