Raja, Kani, Kalmadi's 'memorable' Independence day @ Tihar

New Delhi, Aug 15: When the entire nation celebrated 65th Independence Day on Monday, Aug 15, the prisoners at Tihar jail also joined the list. However, this time their independence day celebration received a special attraction when former telecom minister and MPs accompanied them but not as politicians but as fellow prisoners.

The sacked chief of Commonwealth Games (CWG 2010) organising committee, Suresh Kalmadi, former telecom minister, A Raja and DMK MP, Kanimozhi attended the their first independence day celebration as prisoners.

Authorities from the Tihar jail informed the famous politicians was accompanied by some Pakistani foreign prisoners. "Kalmadi, Kanimozhi and Raja joined the celebrations with other inmates," informed the authorities and also added, "Pakistani prisoners and other foreign nationals too celebrated the day."

The three "famous" personalities attended the special function on patriotic songs, dances performed by the prisoners and were served special food along with other inmates.

While Kalmadi has been arrested over irregularity charges in CWG 2010, Raja and Kanimozhi were arrested over their alleged roles in 2G spectrum scam.
