Punjabi singer raped, 'Baba' arrested

Chandigarh, Aug 15: Punjab police have recently arrested a so called "Baba" as he allegedly raped a local Punjabi singer after giving false marriage assurance.

Rajesh Kumar alias Rana on Aug 13 has been sent for judicial custody for seven days after his arrest. City SHO Amrik Singh Chahal stated, "Baba Rajesh Kumar alias Rana was arrested yesterday (Aug 13) after a local singer lodged a complaint with Kapurthala police that he raped her under the pretext of marrying her."

As per the complaints, Rana had promised to release music albums with her and also had promised to marry her. After the assurance the victim had started staying in live-in relationship with the accused.

However, Rana allegedly denied to marry the girl as he had moved for a religious place which does not allow marital relationships and refused to share the profits that they had accumulated over eight religious music albums.

Meanwhile, the victim, the local singer also claimed that Rana was married and has three children. Rana currently has been lodged in jail.
