RGV lands in legal soup over Not A Love Story
Demanding to stop the plan to release the movie on Aug 19, Jerome's legal notice was sent on Saturday, Aug 6. The notice also accused RGV and the producer of the movie - Sunil Bohra of delineating a "wrong picture" based on "exaggerated media reports".
Earlier, Maria Susairaj had sent a legal notice demanding to preview the movie before it gets released. Maria had also threatened RGV of charging him in civil and criminal act if the movie is released without her consent.
However, Ramu overruled Maria's demand stating, "I will not show my film to Maria as I have repeatedly said that my film is just inspired by the incident and not completely based on her. There are so many differences in the film from the real life incident."
"My heroine is not a South Indian actress and her fiancee is not in navy as in real case. Also, the film is just an interpretation of what could have happened and not a reporting on what actually happened. No one was there to know what the reality is. This is not her story and I am not showing the film to her," added Ramu.
Not A Love Story is reportedly based on the murder of Neeraj Grover. A TV executive, Grover was brutally slaughtered on May 7, 2008 by Maria's fiance, Emile Jerome, a Navy officer. Neeraj's body was cut in pieces with a knife purchased for the purpose, transported to another suburb in gunny bags, where the corpse was set on fire. Maria and Jerome were arrested soon after the crime.
Maria was found guilty of destroying evidences. While Maria was freed by the court after serving a term of three years, Jerome has been imprisoned for 10 years.
