Sadananda Gowda sworn in as K'taka CM; BSY all-smiles

Sadananda Gowda
Bangalore, Aug 4: Sadananda Gowda has sworn-in as the new Karnataka Chief Minister. The oath was pronounced by Karnataka Governor HR Bhardwaj in the midst of cheering supporters of the Yeddyurappa camp who had vehemently backed Gowda for the top job.

After many other ministers were expected to be sworn-in along with him, no such thing happened. The rival camp of Jagdish Shettar boycotted the ceremony at the Raj Bhavan. Shettar had also declined the idea of becoming the Deputy Chief Minister.

The function was attended by BJP General Secretary Ananth Kumar and state BJP President Eeshwarappa.

The ceremony saw a display of 'which camp wields more power in the state'. With Shettar boycotting the programme that he had indicated earlier as well, the dissent among the various camps within the state BJP has become more evident.

With a tough time ahead of the new CM, if Sadananda Gowda be able to calm the dissenting voices within the BJP remains to be seen.
