Tamil Nadu: Man attempts to sexually assault disabled woman

Tamil Nadu, Aug 4: A man was arrested by the Omalur police on Aug 3 after he tried to sexually assault a hearing and speech impaired woman.

The victim, Balkees Banu (28) works as a domestic help at Muthalif alias Abdulah Mohamed's house in Vellalapatti. The victim after finishing her daily chores used to go back on a cycle to her home.

The tragedy took place after the victim decided to walk back home on Aug 2. After reaching the outskirts of Thekampatti, the accused, Rengasamy (28), Muthalif's neighbour offered her a lift.

In a complaint against the accused by Muthalif, the former was drunk heavily when he offered Bilkis a lift. He later sped his bike into a mango grove. Sensing trouble, the woman jumped off his vehicle and then ran to Muthalif's house.

He took the victim to a doctor and narrated the whole incident to the relative of the accused. Both agreed to settle the matter, however the accused along with few of his friends pushed his way into Mutalif's house to assault him.

Rangasamy was later arrested by the Omalur police, while the other two are absconding.
