Mamata Banerjee all geared to prettify Kolkata like London

The CM also said that just as London egresses around Thames River, she wants Kolkata's river Hoogly to fall under the same lines. Mamata also plans to install a London Eye type giant wheel along Hoogly river.
“But we do not have the funds and infrastructure like London to carry out the beautification of the riverfront project. We are doing the pilot project on one kilometre stretch with our own resources but we will opt for PPP model for the completion of the entire 10-km project," she said.
She disclosed her plans speaking at the inauguration of “Hooghly River Front Development Kolkata" at Millennium Park, Kolkata.
Mamata had promised during her election campaigns that she would turn Kolkata into London and bring London to Kolkata. The beautification process would also give Kolkata a total makeover.
The CM has also asked for ideas from the British government. An extensive plan has been made by The Rail India Technical and Economic Services (RITES) to prettify the river front.
She further said that it would be a “green and dream project".
