IAF fighter jet crashes in UP; 2 dead

The single-seater Jaguar fighter aircraft crashed on Thursday afternoon, killing its pilot and a girl. The girl was working in an agricultural field. This is the second such incident involving a IAF plane this week.
According to L Ravi Kumar, DIG Azamgarh said that the jet is believed to have taken off from Gorakhpur airbase at 12:10 pm, only to crash land later in a field in Dilahi Firozpur village, about 50 kms from the district headquarters.
The plane burst into flames as soon as it crash landed killing the 18-year-old-girl named Ruma instantly. Two other women who were working in the field were also injured in the accident.
The identity of the pilot is yet to be known. The IAF team has however reached the spot and taken away the pilots body.
The year 2010 had seen a total of 10 IAF aircraft crashes consisting of four MiG-27 and two MiG-21 planes.
