Jaya's wrath on Karuna continues, top cop Jaffer suspended

Chennai, Aug 2: It seems that Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa's wrath will not spare former CM and DMK chief M Karunanidhi so easily. After conducting a raid, Jayalalithaa suspended the top police official Jaffar Sait on Tuesday, Aug 2.

Sait, the Tamil Nadu Additional Director General of Police is believed as the loyalist to Karunanidhi during DMK's regime in the state. The suspended police official has been accused in a Housing Board scam.

Earlier on Jul 26, at least ten places in Chennai were being raided. Jaffer's residence was one of the main targets of the investigative team who conducted the surprise raids.

Jaffer was not alone in the list who faced the wrath (of Jayalalithaa). Others whose residences too were raided are - Sait, who headed the state intelligence wing in the previous DMK regime; Karunanidhi's Personal security officers (PSO) P Pandian, C Ganesan, C Vinothan and IAS officer K Rajamanickam, one of the secretaries to Karunanidhi during his reign in Tamil Nadu.

The officials' houses were raided on the grounds of FIRs filed against them and their kins over misappropriate handling of land/plots allotted to them under Tamil Nadu Housing Board under the government's discretionary quota.
