Punjab: Vice Chancellor of Guru Granth Sahib World Univ shot

Punjab, Aug 1: Jasbir Singh Ahluwalia, Vice-Chancellor of Guru Granth Sahib World University was shot by unidentified assailants when he was coming out of the university.

He has been taken to PGI Chandigarh for further treatment.

A sexual harassment case was registered against the VC in the year 2010, which was later dismissed by the Patiala court. A case was registered by his student who alleged the VC for "wrong things" happening at the Department of Fine Arts. Despite her complaint, the student was told to keep her mouth shut, instead of any action.

Aluwahlia, also a former VC of Punjab University was booked in a case in Feb 2002. Ahluwalia was also acquitted of the charges of forgery and corruption in a case registered against him in Apr 2002, when he was the VC of Punjab University.
