New Delhi: Woman gangraped by business partners

New Delhi, Jul 30: A 35-year-old lady has been allegedly gangraped in the Timarpur area of north Delhi on Wednesday night, Jul 27. The accused are the two brothers Arif, 29, and Tariq, 25, who were the business partners of the victim and had recently decided to sever all ties.

The victim who had been separated from her husband was living alone with her daughter. She had started a business with Arif, in which she had invested Rs. 1.5 lakh. After the business shut down, she told the accused she wanted her money back. He had reportedly returned Rs 1 lakh but refused to return the remaining amount.

On Wednesday night, Arif called the woman to the Shashtri Park metro station on the pretext of returning the money. Cops said they reportedly had a heated argument.

When the victim walked out of the house, the accused called his brother Tariq and made her sit on the bike between both of them. In her statement, the victim said she was taken to an isolated place in Wazirabad area where the accused took turns to rape her after which they fled the spot.

"The victim filed a complaint stating that on the night of July 27, the accused took her to Wazirabad and raped her in an isolated place. A medical examination confirmed rape. Both the accused have been arrested," said a senior police officer from North district.
