TN: DMK man wanted for pushing girl into prostitution

Ramanathapuram, Jul 28: The Chennai police is on a look out for a DMK man who is allegedly involved in sexually abusing a minor girl along with several men.

The 17-year-old girl filed a complaint with the police after which the police is hunting for J Jalil, Ramanathapuram municipal chairman along with 13 other accused.

The girl accused the men of sexually exploiting her and then pushing her into prostitution. Though one man has already been detained by the police, the girl was unable to recognise him during the identification parade here.

Three teams have been formed by the police to nab Jalil who is believed to be absconding. Four women are also wanted by the police in the case.

"The case is being investigated,'' said SP Arun Kumar Giri, Ramanathapuram.

The girls who hails from Vagaikulam was married out of choice to a 21-year-old-youth in 2009. The couple later parted their ways after 20 days and the girl moved in with her parents.

She later took up a job at a textile outlet, where she narrated her story to a friend. The colleague Poongothai introduced the victim to her husband Satish and another Selvi.

Satish took the girl to Ramanathapuram on the pretext of getting her a job.

"The girl said in the complaint that she was locked up in a lodge in Ramanathpuram, where Jalil raped her. She was detained in the lodge for the next three weeks during which Jalil and his friends sexually abused her,'' said a police official said.

Jalil later threatened the victim at knife-point to keep her mouth shut and later sold her a man in Madurai, who forced her into prostitution, said the victim.

She also indicted three women who bought her and then forced her into the flesh trade. The victim was then taken to places like Coimbatore, Courtallam and Kodaikanal and abused her, revealed investigations.

"All the accused are on the run. A special team is in Madurai looking for some of the accused. We are searching all the places for them,'' said a police official.

The parents of the girl told the police that they received anonymous call from a man who demanded Rs 1 lakh to set their daughter free but he stopped calling them after the family was unable to pay the amount.
