2G scam: I-T department to grill A Raja and other accused

New Delhi, Jul 21: The income tax department have been granted permission by the Delhi High Court to grill ex-telecom minister A Raja along with other five accused in the 2G spectrum scam in judicial custody.

OP Saini, special CBI judge gave the I-T department the permission to interrogate Shahid Usman Balwa of Swan Telecom promoters, Raja, Vinod Goenka and top officials from Reliance ADAG-Hari Nair, Gautam Doshi and Surendra Pipara.

Three separate applications by the Income-Tax department sought interrogation of Raja in connection with his family income, said Sanjeev Rajpal, senior standing counsel for I-T department.

Meanwhile, the Mumabi I-T team will quiz Shahid Balwa in connection with Etisalat DB.

"Our applications have been allowed by the court and these six persons will be interrogated from July 27 to July 29," said Rajpal.
