Raj Thackeray blames immigrants for Mumbai blasts?

Mumbai, Jul 15: The Thackeray's are at it again. Utilizing the dreadful terror attacks in Mumbai for a fresh new tirade against the immigrants who have made the bustling city their home, Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray once again stated that the immigrants were responsible for the increased crime rate in the state.

He was quoted as saying to reporters, "Maharashtra crime rate has increased in the last 10 years. Examine from where the people perpetrating the crimes come from. In neighbouring Thane, the influx of migrants has been the highest in the country."

Continuing his verbal attack on the "hoardes of migrants", he added that in the event of the Mumbai blasts one cannot blame the police department and term it as intelligence failure and in reality there was no way we can control the number of immigrants entering the state.

He commented, "I trust the Mumbai Police but the influx is so much that there will be intelligence failure and such type of terror attacks would keep happening. Is any crime possible without the help of local people? (terrorist) Kasab knows Taj hotel kitchen but you and me do not."

Taking the tirade to the next level, Raj Thackeray demanded a combing operation be carried out to flush out all those immigrants who were staying in the state illegally and said, "take help of military if needed". He also said that no convict has ever been executed even after a court verdict.

It is negative voices like such that promotes regionalism in the country especially at a time when Indians have to be united to fight the common enemy, terrorism.
