Arunachal asks Centre to review R-APDRP

Power (Electrical) Minister Setong Sena during a meeting at New Delhi recently suggested that towns with population of 5000 and above should be taken up in place of those with 10,000 and above population in Arunachal Pradesh for power reforms, official sources informed.
Under R-APDRP schemes, IT consultants have been appointed and detailed project reports (DPRs) for Itanagar, Tezu, Roing, Pasighat, Aalo, Ziro, Daporijo, Seppa, Naharlagun and Namsai were being prepared for power reforms, the power minister told the meeting.
Highlighting the steps taken by the state government for electrification of village with an aim to provide power connection to every household, Sena said that a total of 781 un-electrified and 647 electrified villages have benefited by way of providing grid connectivity by June 2011.
Under Rajiv Gandhi Gramin Vidyutikaran Yojana (RGGVY) altogether 20,264 rural household families have been provided with electricity, he said.
The meeting chaired by Union Power Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde focussed on various initiatives taken by the union power ministry and emphasis was given on reduction of aggregate transmission and commercial power losses through various measures including implementation of the R-APDRP, the sources said.
