Life imprisonment awarded to rapist father and brother

New Delhi, Jul 6: The Supreme Court on Tuesday, Jul 5 awarded life imprisonment to a man, alongwith his son for raping his 14-year-old daughter till her mother learnt about her pregnancy and filed a complaint with police against this beastly and inhuman act. The accused, Syed Isaq and his son, the girl's elder brother would cool their heels behind the bars for life.

This young girl from Nalgonda, on Apr 20, 2005 lodged a police complaint alleging that her mother was working as a maid and used to leave her at her grandmother's place before going to work. Her father used to take her back home from her grandmom's place and raped her under threat of life. Though the victim complained this to her grandmother, the old lady took the side of the rapist father. Hence, emboldened by grandmother's support, the man continued the horrendous act over his daughter.

Following the father's beastly activity, the elder brother started sexually torturing the girl. Learning about the shocking reports of her pregnancy in the hospital, the victim's mother took her to the police station to lodge a complain against the husband and the son who were sexually assaulting her daughter for five months.

On July 28, 2006, Hyderabad Mahila Court convicted the father-son duo for rape under Section 376 and awarded them life sentence. The HC on April 28 last year dismissed their appeals.
