CWG 2010: Lalit Bhanot's bail rejected by Delhi High Court

New Delhi, Jul 5: The bail plea of Lalit Bhanot, the CWG organising Committee Secretary General was rejected on Jul 5 (today) by the Delhi High Court.

“I find no merit in the bail application moved by the accused Bhanot. Therefore, his bail application is dismissed," said Justice Mukta Gupta.

Bhanot, a close aide of Suresh Kalmadi was arrested along with VK Verma, ex-Director General of the Organising Committee for his alleged role in CWG irregularities striking a deal of Rs 107 crore. The loss happened during a deal with a Swiss firm to provide various logistic supports for the Games.

Bhanot and Verma were arrested on Feb 23 by the CBI over their role in the scam.
