Who killed Dilshan? Chennai boy shot dead,army rejects blame

Chennai, Jul 4: Army men, completely tarnishing all allegations against them, claimed that the slain teenager Dilshan was not shot dead by any army personnel. Dilshan was shot dead on Sunday, Jul 3 allegedly by an army man for trespassing into an army area near the central station in Chennai.

The army spokesperson on Monday claimed that no armed men were allocated for the area where the victim was shot at. Dilshan, who was taken to a local hospital soon after the incident, succumbed to his serious injuries. Dilshan was shot at his head. Postmortem report also confirmed that he (Dilshan) died due to bullet injuries.

Meanwhile, top police officials informed, "The case has been transferred to the CB-CID (Crime Branch Criminal Investigation Branch) and they have taken over the probe."

Tamil Nadu chief minister Jayalalithaa also showed grave concern over the issue and announced Rs 5 lakh compensation to the deceased family.

Preliminary investigation also claimed that a mid-range shot killed Dilshan. Police sources also said that it could be an unaccounted weapon used from the army campus.
