Ex-IB official blows the lid off govt's 'chewing gum' theory

This fact has blown the cover on the government's 'chewing gum theory' that was earlier slammed by the Opposition BJP with both Nitin Gadkari and Sushma Swaraj speaking strongly on the “rubbish" claims.
Gupta said that he was approached by the Finance Ministry to carry out "routine checks" on the suspected bugging. He confirmed that sticky off-white adhesive like substance was found in Pranab's room. He also stated that he had recommended conducting a forensic check on the so-called chewing gum. He said that it could or could not be chewing gum.
He added that he was given the assignment as an individual and not as of an agency. He wanted to make the matter clear that such sensitive cases will not be given to an agency and he was given the task based on his competency.
Pranab Mukherjee had also rubbished the various apprehensions doing the rounds on the sensitivity of the issue and had said, "All these are bogus things. Don't waste your time on this."
