Tihar jail: Kanimozhi learns candle making in 2G speed

New Delhi, Jun 23: DMK MP, Kanimozhi who is lodged in Tihar jail seems to be using her time well, as the 2G accused is learning how to make candles in the jail, said sources.

A vocational course is introduced by Tihar jail to keep the inmates in touch with the world outside through enhancing their skill and competition.

A unit specially for candle making has been built in Jail number 6, a cell housing only for women. The scented candles made by women in jail are sold both inside and outside the jail.

Kanimozhi, like any other inmate of jail gets the same treatment. She sleeps on the floor, wakes up early in the morning, has bread and coffee and then attends the court proceedings from 9 in the morning till 6 in the evening, said a report on NDTV.

An avid book lover, Kanimozhi spends most of her time reading and is a regular visitor to the jail's library. She is also given newspapers and provided with a television set. Kanimozhi is allowed to meet her family only twice a week.

According to jail authorities, Kanimozhi is well behaved and also speaks to other inmates of the jail.

After meeting his daughter, M Karunanidhi upon his return from Delhi told reporters that Kanimozhi was kept in the jail in an "inhuman manner".

"Kanimozhi's body is swollen and full of blisters," said Karunanidhi.

Kanimozhi, along with Sharad Kumar, MD, Kalaignar TV allegedly received a bribe of Rs 200 crore from Cineyug Films through Shahid Balwa's DB Realty.

Kanimozhi stands by her argument that the alleged Rs 200 crore bribe was in actuality a loan from Cineyug and was availed at market rate for the channel's operations.
