PM under Lokpal bill ambit: Congress to decide

Senior Congress leader and party General Secretary, Digvijaya Singh earlier shrunk back from his statement that the Prime Minister should come within the Lokpal ambit. He told, "My stand is the same as that of the party. Let the Lokpal drafting committee decide. I will go with that decision and the decision of the party."
As the government expects to get the Opposition on board, it might possibly call for an all-party meeting. The government would finalise its draft by June 30.
The government and the Congress are divided over bringing the prime minister under the Lokpal bill. But, according to a predominant view, the Prime Minister could be brought under Lokpal ambit only after he emits office.
