Tamil Nadu: Schools reopen, but vacation continues!
AIADMK government alleged that the Uniform System of School Education till class X passed by DMK government was not up to the standard and some of the texts have controversial chapters.
In response to Jayalalithaa's petition, challenging Madras High Court's Interim order to continue the syllabus, Supreme Court appointed an expert panel to examine the syllabus and textbooks initiated by the new government. However, SC directed the government to implement syllabus under Act for Class I and VI during the present academic session.
SC asked the expert panel, which will be headed by the state chief secretary, to submit the report within three weeks to the Madras High Court which will pass the order.
Earlier on the same matter, Madras High Court passed an interim order to continue the present syllabus since the state reportedly spent Rs 200 crores for printing about 9 crore text books.
It would be a tough time for Tamil Nadu students untill the court sorts out the problem in three weeks. Teachers and school officials are also in confusion over teaching the students without text books.
