Nagpur scribes protest murder of Mumbai journalist

Nagpur, Jun 13: The journalistic fraternity here has strongly condemned the murder of senior scribe Jyotirmoy Dey, and demanded resignation of Maharashtra Home Minister R R Patil and transfer of Mumbai police commissioner Arup Parnaik.

In an emergency meeting held here, the Nagpur Union of Working Journalists (NUWJ) and Tilak Patrakar Bhawan Trust demanded immediate resignation of Patil and transfer of Patnaik over the incident, a release said today.

Dey was shot dead by four assailants when he was riding his bike in suburban Powai on Saturday.

The organisations have also appealed the state government to initiate immediate steps to prevent such incidents from happening again.
