Manmohan Singh justifies police action at Ram Lila grounds

Finally the PM has spoken on the issue and considers that the police actions were justified. Though unfortunate, Singh thinks the situation was totally unavoidable. He has been quoted as saying, “It is unfortunate that operation had to be conducted but quite honestly, there was no alternative." Though PM promised a concerted effort to fight against corruption, he stated that there was no magical wand to do so.
On the other hot issue that is making headlines, if the Prime Minister should fall under the ambit of the proposed "Lokpal Bill", the PM only said that the matter was in consideration with the joint drafting committee comprising ministers and members from civil society.
Meanwhile, the Opposition BJP and the CPI(M) has slammed the PM for his comments that justified the police action. BJP spokesman Rajiv Pratap Rudy, reacted strongly and commented, “The statement of the Prime Minister vindicates BJP's stand that it seems the unleashing of midnight terror on innocents was orchestrated by the PM and his office in consent with 10 Janpath."
CPI(M) Politburo member Brinda Karat also took the opportunity to focus on the Congress' double speak and said, “I feel sorry that he has not expressed regret...we still do not know know what changed within 48 hours that from rolling out red carpet for Ramdev they went to (unleash) this terrible police attack."
