Special unit to investigate human trafficking

Bangalore, May 28: The Karnataka police department has set up separate units to deal with cases related to human trafficking in some districts.

These units would liaison with NGOs for proper settlement and treatment of such victims, especially if the victim was a child or woman in Bangalore, Mysore, Hubli-Dharwad, Belgaum and Dakshin Kannada districts, Police Commissioner Jyothiprakash Mirji said.

He was speaking after inaugurating the Anti-Human Trafficking unit in the City Crime Branch.

The unit in Bangalore will be headed by Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) D.M. Krishnam Raju.

Additional Commissioners of Police T. Suneel Kumar and Praveen Sood and Joint Commissioner of Police Alok Kumar were present.
