JK: Local leader arrested for raping woman

Udhampur (JK), May 23: A local leader was arrested for allegedly raping a woman in Reasi district of Jammu and Kashmir, police said here on Monday, May 23.

The 20-year-old woman was intercepted and allegedly raped by Pushwinder Singh at Bagla Patal in Mahore area of Reasi on Friday, they said, adding she was on way to her sister's house when the incident took place.

She reported the matter to police following which a case was registered against Singh at Mahore police station, they said.

Singh was arrested on Sunday, May 22, they said.

Singh had unsuccessfully contested Legislative Assembly election on Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers Party (JKNPP) ticket in 2008.
