2G brings generations together: DMK family reunion in jail

New Delhi, May 23: It might have been one of the worst days for the former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi who reached Tihar jail in New Delhi to meet his daughter, Kanimozhi.

Kanimozhi, who moved the Delhi High Court with a bail plea on Monday, May 23, was arrested in the 2G spectrum scam which caused the nation a whopping 1.76 lakh crore.

The DMK chief Karunanidhi along with his son MK Stalin, Kanimozhi's mother Rajathi Ammal, husband Aravindan and DMK MP TR Baalu, met the detained DMK MP. This was the first time that DMK family reunited in Tihar jail after her arrest on Friday, May 20.

Karunanidhi reportedly met the DMK leader and the former telecom minister A Raja, and DB Realty MD Shahid Balwa in the jail. Raja and Balwa were also arrested over criminal contempt charge in 2G spectrum scam.

However, the DMK chief snubbed Sonia Gandhi as he skipped to meet the Congress president in the national capital. Earlier the former Tamil Nadu CM had also chided, "The (Kanimozhi's) arrest is a vendetta against DMK and my family ranging from Kanyakumari to Himalayas." However, the DMK patriarch said he was confident of winning the "final war."
