Bangalore ticket chaos reprised in Nagpur

Lathi-Charge
Nagpur, Mar 8: Police used mild force on cricket fans at the old stadium of Vidarbha Cricket Association in Civil Lines locality today following a melee to grab tickets for a World Cup match here on Mar 12.

A large number of enthusiasts had gathered at the site since last night to purchase tickets for the India-South Africa match. When counters for sale of tickets to the general public opened here, there was a mad rush and some fans broke barriers to reach the counters, resulting in a melee, police said.

Security personnel, who were deployed in large numbers there anticipating a trouble used mild force to control the fans following which organisers closed the counters for some time and re-opened it later.

Order was restored later and according to VCA sources the sale of tickets resumed and is still on. Few persons recieved minor injuries in the ruckus. Police however, refused to comment on the use of force.
