Will punish corrupt ministers of Punjab govt: Amarinder Singh
Jalandhar, Mar 6: Slamming BJP for adopting double standards on corruption, state party chief Amarinder Singh said all the corrupt ministers of the Akali-BJP government will be taken to task once Congress comes back to power in the state.
"What action has the BJP President Nitin Gadkari taken against Chief minister of Karnataka B S Yeddyurappa? Why doesn''t the BJP take any action against corrupt ministers of it''s government in Punjab?" he questioned after addressing a rally in Dashara ground here today.
He said that former Chief Minister of Maharashtra Ashok Chavan resigned soon after the allegations of corruption against him and that the BJP should be ashamed of itself to question the integrity of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, who is widely known for his "impeccable integrity".
Terming the financial condition of the state as ''poor'', the former chief minister said," The state currently is under a debt of Rs 1,60,000 crore and major part of the income is spent on repaying it."
