JK issues EPICs to new voters in Kargil

Srinagar, Mar 7: Ahead of the upcoming panchayat elections in Jammu and Kashmir, authorities in the state have distributed electoral photo identity cards (EPIC) to newly added voters in Kargil district.

The EPICs were distributed among the newly added voters last week at their respective polling stations in Kargil district, an official spokesman said on Monday, Mar 7.

"Despite two to three feet snow and harsh cold conditions, there was an overwhelming response and newly added voters came in large numbers to their respective polling stations and received their EPICs," the spokesman said.

Kargil remains cut off from the rest of the state during winter months due to heavy snowfall and extreme cold with the minimum temperature falling as low as minus 20 degree Celsius.
