Fog engulfs Haryana as mercury rises

The minimum temperature hovered between two degrees Celsius above normal to one notch below normal in most parts of Punjab and Haryana, the MeT office said here.
Several places in the region, including Ambala, Hisar, Karnal, Rohtak, Amritsar and Ludhiana were engulfed in fog this morning.
Some places in the region, including Ludhiana, also received widespread rains. Ludhiana got 0.6 mm rains. In the plains of Punjab and Haryana, Amritsar was the coldest place with a low of 7.2 degrees Celsius, which was one notch below normal.
While Ludhiana had a low of 9.4 degrees Celsius, one notch below normal, the minimum temperature at Patiala was 10.5 degrees Celsius.
Among other places, Narnaul settled at a low of 10.6 degrees Celsius, one notch above normal, followed by 11 degrees Celsius at Karnal. Chandigarh had a minimum of 11.4 degrees Celsius, while Hisar recorded a low of 11.7 degrees Celsius, one notch above normal.
Rohtak had a minimum of 11.8 degrees Celsius, two notches above normal, and Ambala registered a minimum of 11.9 degrees Celsius.
The MeT forecast overcast conditions with possibility of light showers at a few places in the region during the next two days.
