Rupee up 5 paise against US dollar in early trade
Mumbai, Feb 28 (PTI) The Indian rupee rose by 5 paise toRs 45.27 against the US dollar in early trade on the InterbankForeign Exchange today, supported by a better opening in thestock market, although dollar gains overseas restricted theappreciation of the domestic currency.
The rupee had gained 16 paise to close at Rs 45.32/33against the US dollar in the previous session on Friday ondollar-selling by exporters amid a marginal recovery in localequities.
Dealers said a higher opening in the stock market mainlykept the rupee sentiment firm, but dollar gains against othercurrencies overseas restricted the rise.
The Bombay Stock Exchange benchmark Sensex shot up by114.075 points, or 0.64 per cent, to 17,814.98 in openingtrade today.
