Engine, 10 bogies of Neelachal Express derail

Bhubaneswar, Feb 27 (PTI) Passengers of the Puri-NewDelhi Neelachal Express had a narrow escape today when 10bogies of the train and the engine derailed after hitting aroad roller at an unmanned level crossing near Bhadrak, about125 km from here.

The mishap took place at the unmanned level crossingat Rambhila, about 10-km from Bhadrak railway station thisafternoon.

While the roller driver was seriously injured, notrain passenger sustained any injury, Bhadrak station managerR N Biswas said, adding the roller driver was admitted to ahospital at Bhadrak. The road roller was completely damaged.

"All the passengers of the New Delhi-bound train fromPuri are safe. No one has suffered by injury due to theaccident," he said.

Arrangements were made for taking the passengers ofthe New Delhi-bound train by a special train, a senior railwayofficial said.

Train services on the main Chennai-Howrah track wereaffected following the mishap and several trains were strandedat Bhadrak and Balasore, he said, adding Bhubaneswar-Baripadatrain was cancelled following the mishap.
