Tamil dictionary for blind released
Madurai, Feb 26 (PTI) A Madurai-based NGO, incollaboration with a publishing firm, has produced andreleased a Tamil dictionary for the blind.
R Balaganesan, a visually-challeged person who wasinvolved in the production of the dictionary, said a team of33 members including 23 visually challenged persons took partin the process.
The dictionary comprises 53 volumes and runs to 6,250pages. It had been distributed to 40 institutions, the NGOofficials said.
While Indian Association for Blind, the NGO, worked onthe project, publishing firm Cre-A provided editableelectronic version of the dictionary, the NGO officials said.
The project was funded by Cognizant Foundation, theCorporate Social Responsibility arm of Cognizant Technologysolutions.
The first copy of the dictionary was released byLakshmi Narayan, Vice-chairman, CTS, and received by Dr IArivanandham, regional director, National Insitute for theVisually Handicapped.
